Providing a landscape where curiosity takes root and growing a vibrant, distinctive, constant source of knowledge is crucial. Children are like empty vessels to be filled with imagination, creativity and building a knowledge tree.
High- spirited and energetic learners sprout their new branches and grow their trees to the tune of their own heart’s song. Nurturing and encouraging each child’s own growth process can continue by providing a healthy environment with plenty of intellectual minerals in the soil.
Schools have a great responsibility towards future leaders by not only teaching them how to read and write, but also educating them about environmental awareness.
It’s high time each child realizes that the planet is currently facing an increasing number of environmental challenges including climate change, global warming, floods, water scarcity and pollution. Our future leader should engage in their environment to protect it and help communities become more environmentally aware.
JBM Global School has always encouraged its students to make connections between human health and Earth’s health to identify the relationship that connects them with other organisms on the planet either by bringing nature into the classroom or by making each child plant a sapling on his/her birthday or by asking them to go for a nature walk with their families.
Parents are regularly asked to share their environmental knowledge to their kids at home by making them practice small tasks including picking up the trash and throwing the garbage, switching off the electrical appliances when not in use or washing their hands with soap and not letting the water run down.
“The great aim of education is not knowledge, but action.”
Environmental Education benefits learners of all ages, educators and communities including –
1. Creative and critical thinking skills are enhanced
Students are motivate to research, investigate on how and why things happen , and also allow them to make decisions about environmental issues.
2. Creativity and enthusiasm are heightened
Environmental education is interactive learning that unlocks creativity and with integration into the curriculum, raises student achievement in core academic areas.
3. Healthy lifestyle is encouraged
Students connect with the nature as environmental education and get outside and active, thus decreasing severe health issues like obesity, attention deficit disorder and depression. Stress is reduced due to increased time spent in nature.
4. Communities strengthen
Community involvement is promoted when students learn more and take action to improve their environment. Reaching out to volunteers, local facilities and experts bring the communities together for a good cause.
5. Responsible action is taken to better the environment
Environmental education builds knowledge and skills necessary to bring up environmental issues and ways to keep the environment healthy and sustainable for the future.
JBM Global School, a centre of learning redefines itself with environmental education by organizing Greenofest every year and volunteering its students to be future leaders and spreading the word about protecting the environment.
The moment is now or never that we all understand
“If we want our children to flourish, to become truly empowered, then let us allow them to love the Earth before we ask them to save it.”
