In the Gita (4/78) the Lord has ordained
“Yadaa yadaa hi dharmasya glanir bhavati Bharat; Dharma sansthaapanaarthaaya sambhaavami yuge yuge.”
The first importance of Janmashtami is to observe dharma. Since we humans are all imprisoned in samsara, the Lord incarnates in this prison with us, establishes dharma and redeems us from Maya. Lord Krishna emphasised on being free from all kinds of negative and positive emotions like joy, sorrow, grief, happiness, jealousy, as they are all illusions or Maya. We can only win over Maya if we seek the Lord’s aid, as did Arjuna during the battle of Mahabharata. As sage Ved Vyas ordains:-:-
“Yato Krishnastato dharmaha, Yato dharmastato Jayaha.”
Where there is Krishna, there is dharma, where there is dharma, there is victory.
Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu who gave us vital messages of the Bhagwat Gita- the guiding principles for every human. The main objective of his birth was to free mother Earth from the wickedness of demons. Playing an important part in Mahabharata and propagating the theory of bhakti and good karma were other important objectives.
Students of Cambridge and CBSE board schools in Noida learn a lot from Krishna’s life as each episode of his life is fulfilled with morals and lessons. Sri Krishna is the supreme statesman, warrior, hero, philosopher, teacher and God himself for us. Krishna is known to be blue where blue like the sky marks the infinite potential and power of the Lord. His yellow clothes represent the colour of the earth when introduced into a colourless flame. A pure, infinite consciousness was born as Krishna to eliminate the evil and revive the goodness. Devotees celebrate this festival by fasting and staying up until midnight, when Krishna is believed to have been born, chanting for good luck faith and devotional songs and dances bhajans to highlight Krishna’s fests and his divine characteristics, people to perform Krishna Leela, offering sweets as Krishna was fond of sweets and dairy products, BHOG is prepared for him on this auspicious day which is later distributed as Prasad and devotees tie swings on the tree and take rides on that. It is considered auspicious. While Dahi Handi celebrates the joyful and mischievous the flirtatious dimension of his character from his youthful days. Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated with great fun and fervour throughout the country. *Jab ve apne kaarya mei anand khoj lete hai, tab ve poornta praapt kar lete hain.
*Kewal man he kisi ka mitra aur shatru hota hai
*There is no beginning & there is no end.
*There are three gates to the self-destructive hell:- lust, anger and greed.
*He who has no attachment can really love others, for his love is pure and divine.
*The meaning of karma is in the meaning of intention; the intention behind action is what matters.
There are infinite lessons for mankind to given by Lord Krishna, such as the Purpose of Life is God/Truth, Being untouched by desire is true renunciation, Desires come and go, And without meditation, you will not uncover the Truth. Without Truth, there is no end to suffering, One should give up ahamkara/ Ego, Karma (action) Jnana (Knowledge) and Bhakti (Devotion) as the threefold way to removal of illusion or Maya.
